TV Resolution

Greetings in Jesus Name. I'm a new poster here and just wanted to see what everyone thinks about (divisive) issue.

Rumor is that several have been laid off at WEC in hazelwood. After the Tulsa meeting in January, there will most likely be more layoffs and missionaries who have to come home or deputize longer, etc.

Will the TV resolution hurt the UPCI in the short term? Will it affect holiness standards? Is it a slippery slope? Another thing to consider is that there will be (imo) limited results with TV advertising. Will the fallout be worth it?

There needed to be lay-offs regardless of the resolution.

Is the UPC going to issue a apology to all that left the UPC so that they could have TV?

If many are that up-tight over TV.....it just proves there needs to be a change.

TV is the tip of the ice burg, it's only a symptom of greater issues.

If an org will split over TV; there are greater hidden horrors that lay beneath .

This is a control issue and a mis-guided zeal for preservation of traditions.

there are other things that show limited results as well. A lot of it depends on the area in which you live.

Isn't the bottom line results....not numbers....but results????? I'm corn-fused? But if 6 people rec' the awesome expereince of the H.G. wouldn't that be worth it. I've heard my whole life that the angels rejoice at ONE.

Maybe I just need clarification as to what the number needs to be before its worth it?

And as it has be said 113,645,980,462 times.....nobody is making anybody go on TV! GEEEZ

I was in UPC for 17 years from the 1980's to 2001.

Most members of the church had a TV.

The mens fellowship would take turns hosting "Monday Night Football" in our homes. It was good times.

I always hoped our Pastor would go on TV.

I never really knew that TV was so hated until I started posting on forums.

what really makes no sense to me is, the texas churches have had tvs in their homes for years. i have been in many homes that had a tv. and many times, the pastor i had in the first church i was in, him and his wife would come to my house and watch our tv. so it makes no sense to be against something you partake in. i remember many times, going to visit those that were in the hospital and they would have the tv on, ok, you dont believe in a tv in your home yet you will watch it while your in the hospital? or at someone elses house? kind of a contradiction there. its like me saying, i am against drugs, but if i come to your house i will share yours, lol

the other thing i dont understand is, if you are going to own a tv, or just watch it at someone elses house, wouldnt it be nice to at least have some apostolic preaching and music to watch on it?

this argument just makes no sense to me. either you are for or against. there is no in between. and while i am on my soapbox here, i may as well say the other part of what i am thinking, and that is, if you are against a TV it seems that you would also be against the internet.

by far the internet has more evil than tv ever did.

just wonder why we can publish preaching on the internet, yet it is a sin to publish it on a TV?

does the word oxymoron come to mind here?

If they would have just never made TV an issue then we could have already been reaching our communities with the gospel via TV years ago. What a greater positive impact we could have already had.
