LCD or Plasma Screens?
Can someone with experience give some info for having these in a church. Seats maybe 300 is a wide church so not that long.
We have a projector and screen but Im not happy with it and the lights wash it out
Im looking at two screens possible.

Re: LCD or Plasma Screens?
I think the LCD may be the better way IF it is a flat screen. I understand the Plasma tends to burn images into the screen.

Re: LCD or Plasma Screens?
As I understand it, both have their good and bad features. Check on the viewing from close distances and also if you're viewing from the side at an angle.
A good site for information is Crutchfield.com

Re: LCD or Plasma Screens?
Thanks. Since I want to get 2 I don't think viewing angle will be that much of a problem

Re: LCD or Plasma Screens?
Here's my 2 cents. We recently made a change in our media presentation for the same reasons. In my research, I found that Plasma's are better than they used to be when it comes to burn in on the screen and the prices have dropped quite a bit. However, plasma's have a glassier look to the screen and you might have a new problem with your lights reflecting off the screen instead of washing it out. Also, in the larger size you'd be looking for, LCD's are still rather expensive, especially when compared to projectors. We decided to just get a better projector and it has made a world of difference. I'd recommend looking for something with at least 3000 lumens and you'll avoid the wash out from windows and lights. I found a brand new NEC on ebay that puts out 3500 lumens and it cost around $900 with shipping. It will project at least twice the size of your best LCD or Plasma and we have no washout issues with the lights and shades up on a sunny Sunday morning.

With two screens I can move then away from the lights
As it is or projector screen is too near a light source and there is no other way to situate the screen
The other issue is I don't really want a big size. IF we had a large platform and a higher roof it can be done. I'd put the screen in the middle.
But that isn't the case. Our roof is relatively low. As the screen is now, when the bass player stands he blocks it. If the drummer stands or raises his hands, same thing.
With smaller, wide screen plasmas, I can put them closer to the congregation, not drop down as low as a projector screen. This would be purely for lyrics and bible text. We can keep the projector and use it for when we need to project video or images for teaching illustration

Re: LCD or Plasma Screens?
From what I heard if it is a well lit area the LCD would be better in a darker setting Plasma would be better I do know the colors on a Plasma are a little better then LCD. I just did my homework between the two I ended up getting a 42"LCD over the plasma they say with the new plasma that burn in is really not an issue anymore..

Re: LCD or Plasma Screens?
We bought a 50" Panasonic plasma about 6 weeks ago. We love it!
