Re: Pretendacostal-Is that you?
Do you really expect any pretenders to be honest about it? The reason they are pretenders is because they can't be honest about who and what they are.

OilCityCajun, you are correct. It was more a question for thought. I find it funny that people on here, AFF, parade around here as if they are Contenders. (present company excluded)
I changed the original post too.

What are some of the attributes of a pretender?

Someone that speaks in tongues because they feel like they have to inorder to fit in. The mind is a powerful thing.

I don't understand the question nor the thread... but I will pretend I do because I like the author and the AFF community.

Often times I have been in a service(s) and seen Pretendacostals. You know the ones. They are dancing and getting doing Jazzercise ala Jesus and don't live an actual believers life. Thanks for the kind words amigo!

Oh sure, I know... Yet, I know humans love to imitate and are creatures of habit... whether Pentecostal or Catholic. Does not necessarily mean they are hypocrites or pretenders.
It may just mean they are being polite and "worshiping" to the expectations of the church people. I think the church bears a responsibility, for falsely placing high value on these rather easily duplicated theatrics.

Re: Pretendacostal-Is that you?
True, but pretending doesnt always equate to being hypocritical. Doing something because one feels that they should is different than one that is faking inorder to hide the real person they are. One can act out worship but not really feel it. Hypocrites, IMO, act a way inorder to hide who they are.

I have said repeatedly and continue to stick to my firm belief that for men it is all about meeting women and for women it is about showing off to other women. And for that bird on my arm (who made all the same moves that many UPC'ers in church do with the head bobbing and dancing back and forth), it was all about getting the back of his head scratched as well as getting another Oreo cookie.
