Saw some TBN that didn't make me cringe
Saw a older TBN program with Paul and Jan Crouch from like maybe the early 80s. They had a Episcopal bishop on there who was talking about folks in that circle receiving the Holy Spirit and being open to the gifts.
I sat there and really enjoyed it... its amazing how much they have come from their AG Pentecostal roots to being the doctrinal freak show it is today (sorry Vicky/Sandra, your ok and not referring to you on there, referring to others).

I do not believe it's possible for me to give a single compliment to anyone or anything that appears or has ever appeared on TBN, so I'm gonna have to sit out this discussion.

Re: Saw some TBN that didn't make me cringe
I personally think that if there is justice at Gods throne, folks like Sister Alvear will be called in as witnesses against the folks who live these lifestyles off the flock while she sacrifices on penny's.

The Crouch’s Homes
Televangelists Jan and Paul Crouch of the Costa Mesa-based Trinity Broadcasting Network have purchased a Newport Beach house for close to $5 million, Orange County Realtors say. The home was described as "a palatial estate with ocean and city views." The Crouches had been living in a smaller house in the same neighborhood. The house they bought has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a billiard room, a climate-controlled wine cellar, a sweeping staircase and a crystal chandelier. The three-story, nearly 9,500-square-foot house, which has an elevator, also has a six-car garage, a tennis court and a pool with a fountain. The house is on slightly more than an acre. Jan Crouch had been wanting a bigger yard for her dogs, sources said. (Los Angeles Times, Nov 4th. 2001).
One of the Crouch estates is TBN's ranch in Colleyville, TX, just minutes away from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The 80-plus acre ranch is located between the city limits of Colleyville and Southlake – two of the wealthiest cities in Texas. The ranch, which contains eight houses and horse stables, is estimated to be worth about $10 million.
"Hellooooo Woorld!" yells Paul, who has seen much of it in the past 25 years. He gets around nowadays in a Canadair Challenger 600 executive jet worth about $13 million. (Orange County Register, 1998)

When I have read some of Sis Alvear's posts, I am ashamed of myself to a degree, and I live paycheck to paycheck. But I have a comfortable home, with central heat/air, I never have to worry about food, and live in a safe neighborhood. I think I have it too good sometimes, and often thank God because I realize that many don't have the blessings I hae, and over the last couple of years I have began to get more aggressive about trying to be a blessing to those who don't have much and are in need.
I cannot fathom the lifestyles these people live, while always asking for MORE. More telathons, more pleas, more making merchandise of the saints.
If the crouch's, copelands, dollars, meyers, et al. Sold all there worldly goods, kept themselves a (nice home, say $500,000 home) and a vehicle or two, and limited themselves to an income of say $200,000/year (still alot to live on), took all the money of their estates and placed it directly into world missions, world hunger, etc. They would accomplish overnight what will take hundreds of years for the church to accomplish on the comparatively meager amount of money that is taken for missions (in all denominations) compared with the amount of money TBN and all "christian" TV networks and TV ministries bring in per year.
Personally I hate it, I'm not their judge, and I know that, but I fear for them on judgement day. I fear they "have their reward" right here and right now.

Let's just suppose that the wealth that they have built has been predominately from sources other than TBN, If that is the case perhaps the problem here is envy. I think they are nuts, but the idea that anyone that lives better than you is somehow less Christian is a bunch of garbage, in fact it is more likely a sin.
I don't know where their money comes from but I really do get sick of the envy in Christian circles that causes people to condemn others for having what they don't. Athletes are paid too much, oil executives are paid too much, bankers are paid too much, blah, blah, blah...His house is bigger than mine...they drive too nice a car...they eat at high end places all the time...

Then why is their wealth even an issue?
