I may have hemochromatosis.

Three weeks ago I had my iron levels checked. I was informed that I may have hemochromatosis, or more like I was TOLD that I have it. I need some blood work done, but will not go through with it until I am insured in approx. 70 days. Apparently "I'm not saying that you have cancer... but you may." was supposed to be comforting to me.

Re: I may have hemochromatosis.

Other than the high iron, no. I have been monitoring my iron for almost a yr. The levels keep rising. Anyway, maybe I'm fine. But I have been losing sleep over it. Taking OTC stuff so I can get some rest.

Re: I may have hemochromatosis.

I was told that more than 50% of my blood consists of red blood cells. Apparently that's not normal. I don't know how the iron is measured, but it went up 6 digits from January to March. The last reading was 19.5

Re: I may have hemochromatosis.

The treatment seems simple enough. Take blood each week till levels normalize then take blood less frequently after that to maintain iron levels

Preconditions often stop one from obtaining ins. coverage. Praying this doesn't happen and that you are ok.

You should maybe drink some tea with your meals.

Re: I may have hemochromatosis.

That's interesting. In any case, don't stress over it bro.
