Unbelievable Utility Bill!

I just opened my utility bill (gas/water/electric combined) and it is $605!!! I nearly passed out. I know that gas has supposedly gone up, so this year we have kept both units set at 65 almost all the time. Has anyone else had a huge increase? I called JEA and they are going to come out and reread the meter, because she said it was a big jump in gas usage. I'm praying that they are just wrong. My highest bill ever was $453 last winter, and I nearly choked over it!

Just wondered if anyone else has had this kind of shock this year?????

We have propane, and it costs about $550 every 6-7 weeks...(plus electric and water). (Only during the winter months...it's minimal in the spring/summer/fall, but of course electric goes up then, to cool the house.)

We keep our heat set on 67-68.

(So I guess our utilities run about $550 a month, in the summer and winter...when we use more gas/electric for heat and air). I like it in the spring and fall when we don't have to use much heat/air either way, and can just open the windows!!! Much nicer, AND lower bills.

We try to get everything on level-pay, whenever possible...that way, we know every month what the bill will be, and there are no surprises. (Except at the end of the year, when you may owe a balance.)

Our gas part alone was $392! I just can't imagine that we used that much more than last month. We were even gone for a whole week, and had the units turned down.

I wish they had that level-pay here. I would like it alot better. Well, I guess maybe ours isn't so bad, compared to yours. In the summer, when we are on electric A/C, ours entire bill is only about $375-$400 at the hottest times. But $605 just seems outrageous!

Sherri,

Welcome to America. This more than ever makes a $20000 investment in Solar Energy a wise investment now.

Sherri,
I guess living one place balances out the other.
Our utilities are higher than that!
WE AVERAGE 500.00 per month.....
BUT we have NO PROPERTY TAX in Lousiana....
Our house is 3,200 sg feet and pay 80.00 per year tax.

BUT...I dont understand our bills because we live on ther gulf right where the oil rigs are...

Oh welll...one of those questions Ill ask Jesus..LOL
