HELP--Suggestions for Youth Meeting
It is a blank slate. How would you structure/style/conduct a youth meeting. Several visiting churches will be there 3 successive days, 3 meetings. Something unique? What to preach? What not to preach? What will get their attention? Music?

Download some of Judah Smith's sermons online. He preaches to thousands and they never get bored. And he does not tiptoe around the issues; he is hard core! Joel Stockstill is another one and so is Michael Roland (sp.). Amazing youth speakers!

Re: HELP--Suggestions for Youth Meeting
I too am unsure of your venue, etc., however, I highly recommend (especially if this is a Back-to-School type of event) throwing in some of Arlo Moehlenpah's teachings on Creationism vs. Evolution. I know it seems so elementary to many, but this very foundational teaching needs to be reiterated often to our youth, especially in our society. You can get dvd's of him teaching live, just a short blurb would be great or whatever. Another great dvd teaching tool is to show some of the Matthew or Acts on DVD. These entire books of the bible are acted out on DVD, and they're great for getting young people's attention.

The best way and most productive is to seek God about it and ask Him for direction.

Thank you for your kind reply. God often speaks thru a human voice. There are many many wise people on AFF who have "been there done that" and this will be my first youth meeting.
Have about 100 people, adults included, about 40 kids--ages from 4-18. Will be in a church with a guest speaker and a couple of visiting churches.

Re: HELP--Suggestions for Youth Meeting
Whatever you do, make sure it will reach the kids.
Use them in everything you can. Make sure they play a part. Use them to sing, take offerings, "lead" the service, that kind of thing.
Make sure it's "upbeat". By that I mean intense for them, whether it's a fast moving service or a deep spiritual move. Make sure it "moves" Don't move so fast that God can't move if He wants to, but don't let it drag.
Make sure there's faith, and lots of it. Kids will go along with anything as long as it's "moving" and not dead.
I hope I'm making sense. I love young people, they are my "burden". They are the church of today. So many people make the mistake of saying that they are "the church of tomorrow", they are, but more importantly they are the church of today. So let's reach them anyway we can.
