It's Starting! Picking out Colors, etc.

Today, Eddie and I started picking out things for our new church building! It's scary to choose things from little bitty samples when you know it's going to be in a huge place. We had a decorator there, but we had to make the final decisions. We chose the kind of flooring for the sanctuary and the new lobby. Also, what we wanted on the stage, chairs, etc. It's exciting, but a bit intimidating.

Oh, and please don't suggest committees. We don't do committees. This is the eighth time we've built church/phases, and I've decorated them all so far. I actually enjoy it, but you always wonder if people are going to walk in and go, "WHAT was she thinking???????" LOL

Well, we have to blend with what we have now. We're using kind of "Starbucks" type colors - rust; putty; black. The concrete in the foyer is a polished concrete of black aggregate from Kentucky - looks like pebbly driveway concrete, only completely smooth - very cool. We are actually going to use the same chairs we have now, just order a bunch more of them. That will save us a hunk of money. They are a rust pattern. The carpet in the sanctuary is a pattern with black, rust, tan, putty - really pretty and different. Then on the stage will be more of the black aggregate concrete and the front of the stage (3 feet high) we are putting split face block I think, painted black. The stage is enormous - about 2,000 square feet. Not sure of wall colors yet - probably in the putty family.

I HOPE it all comes together! If not, I may have to move away. LOL

I'm sure it will look great. We go through Tennessee pretty often, so I'm hoping we can stop by.

The colors are nice. The carpet sounds like perfect colors for high traffic.

I just finished repainting our son's bedroom. I picked a Dutch Boy color called "Map Paper". I love it! It's a very creamy and soothing color. Not too tan, not too white.

If you decorated 7 times without a hitch I think 8 won't be a problem!

Well, I can't say there's been no messes, but I've been pleased with the buildings so far. However, this one is a lot bigger. So messes would appear bigger!

The new addition is 28,000 square feet, 8,000 of that being foyer/restrooms. I only know those figures because I've heard Eddie say them - they really mean nothing to me. I have to go out there and actually look at the slab to see it in my mind. It does look big! The red iron comes in on Friday, and should start going up on Monday of next week. It will really look different from the road then!!
