That's because European conservatives fell into the trap of having to try to make socialism work more efficiently instead of getting rid of it. That is also what is happening here with ever FDR and LBJ monkey we've got on our backs.,. and it will be the same with Obamacare. I suppose you'd rather not discuss the horrible problems Britain has with its system, like long waits, filthy facilities, and people dying for lack of resources. But hey, at least it's "free", right?

Of course that was during the Cold War when we chose the lesser evil that would help fight comminism's expansion. I bet it does not bother you that we allied ourselves with Stalin to defeat Hitler.

pinochet overthrew a democratically elected government and thatcher and reagan supported him. pinochet killed thousands. not to mention dictatorships in argentina and nicaragua. thatcher and reagan are burning in hell with blood on their hands. kissinger is soon to join them.

And that "democratically elected government" (won 38% I believe) had no sooner got in power when it began to do what communist do once they get control, overthrow the constitution. I'm glad we had Pinochet instead of one your socialist darlings.
