Why do you believe what you believe? What formed you belief system? Who had the greatest impact on your doctrinal stance other then Jesus?

Not sure how to answer this . . . I believe what I believe because I believe it's the best for me personally.

I believe in Jesus because he DREW me to believe in him. As I was living a life of evil he opened my eyes to the spiritual world and allowed me to see its darkness. I knew then he it was real.

I read Hal Lindseys book "The Late Great Planet Earth" right after this thinking it was an occult book like those I had been reading. It was actually about Bible prophecy. I got interested in it and when I was finished I prayed a prayer repenting and commiting my life to Jesus.

Thats a quick version of how I came to believe in Jesus.

How I came to believe the DOCTRINE that I now believe is another story. Which way does this thread go? Why we believe in esus or why we believe the doctrine we believe?

I believe because Jesus saved me. I believe in prayer because it works. I believe in baptism because it's biblical and it works. I believe in speaking in tongues because it's biblical and it works.

I believe that life will back up what we believe about the Word. First, read the Word and put it into practice. If it doesn't work over a lengthy trial period and God tells you you are wrong, change what you are doing. That's why I believe what I believe.
