We're back home. Came back last night. She can go at anytime. The tumor is inoperable... chemo might help some, but, the Dr. says we have to decide by Thursday to:
1) Stop chemo and let her go.
or
2) Begin a higher dose of chemo that will prolong her suffering and will yeild the same results. Death. Her life may be extended... but, well, it won't be a life...it'll be an existence. Barely.

I need to know what to do. I don't know. She headaches are getting worse. She is almost completely immobilized. The Lord seems to be speaking this to my spirit: Phl 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

Is He giving us the answer? Just, pray that we will make the decision that pleases the Lord whom we trust.
We found out recently that we will be grandparents again. Found out yesterday that we will have a granddaughter this May. Also found out that, unless the Lord moves, Lola will never see the baby. He is good. His wisdom...His grace... His will is what we rely on and trust.
OA, this is the most difficult circumstance that one can be in, and it's something I deal with in others every day. I'm so sorry that I don't have words to say that will take the sorrow from you.

Is your wife still able to make decisions? If so, speak to her about her wishes. Also, if you are able (and if not, see if there is someone else who can do it), prepare her and yourself for her final days. Ask her if there is anything she wants to do or say and write things down.

You said that you have a grandbaby due in a few months. She can be there through letters if she's not there in body. If she is comfortable in speaking about her own funeral, find out what she'd like to wear or what she would like someone to sing.

If you can't do these things, see if there is someone who can. This might be important for her.

OA, I apologize if it seems that I have no faith that God will heal her, because that's not the issue here. But as a nurse, I deal with reality, so I speak in those terms to others. But I am praying for God's will to be done all the same.

I wish I were closer to be there for you both.

Words are never enough, but you know the Lord is an ever present help.

Re: Mrs. OneAccord

Dear Friends...

As you know, we have been asking Godfor His guidance in what to do in regards to my wife's health. The last few days have been... well, you can imagine. But, yesterday, while we discussed the options and the consequences of our decision, the Lord gave us the answer. It came to us from God's Word. Here is what the Lord gave us...

2Ch 16:12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease [was] exceeding [great]: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.

We have two choices facing us.

1) Continue treatment which will prolong life a few weeks and will more than likely cause additional suffering and will end in death.

or

2) End treatment which, in all liklihood, will hasten death but will spare my wife much suffering.

Asa trusted the doctors rather than God. And died. We have chosen to trust God. Treatment, chemo... meds... all may fail. But God will not fail. She may recover... and He will not have failed us. She may be completely healed... and He will not fail us. Or... She may go on to be with Lord, but, if this is His will, then ...He has not failed us.

Thank you all for your encouraging words and for your prayers. Special thanks to Heavenly One. Your words were very helpful. We have discussed everything we know to discuss. All is well, and God is good.

My good brother, know that I am praying for your wife and your family. I can't possibly pretend to know what you are going thru, but our prayers are with you. I appreciate your spirit on this forum, in spite of personal anguish, you still maintain a wonderful demeanor and a positive outlook......you are an inspiration to many.

God bless......

Re: Mrs. OneAccord

One Accord,

Like others have said, I cannot imagine what you are going through even though we did have to make a choice about my mother. We were able to ask her what she wanted and she was ready to go see Jesus - - it made our decision much easier.

I will continue to pray for you and Mrs. OA. I pray you feel God's love and the concern and love of the people here for you and your family.

Praying for you all. I am weeping so I will not write but my heart is with you all. I have thought of the 23 rd chapter of Psalms all day...where ever we walk He is with us.
