Last Days Falling Away
2Th 2:1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
The above scripture says that there is a "falling away" happening first.
Falling away from what?
From Doctrine?
What Doctrine?
From first love?
Love of what?
Truth?
Jesus?
Teachings?
Thoughts?

Re: Last Days Falling Away
Isn't there also scripture that says there will be many who will come into the fold in the last days....a falling away and a last great revival.
What about the next part, "and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; " ?
I think it would be fair to say that the morality of mankind has fallen further than it ever has just in the last 80 years.

So you feel it is speaking of a general lack of morality in society in general?
It certainly has gone down in my short existence!

Re: Last Days Falling Away
Morality and God.
The continuous attacks on Christianity and the movement to take God out of everything.

What about "love"? Matthew 24:12 "And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold."
Love covers a multitude of sin. If we don't have love.......

The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost. Do they really know the extent of love without His Spirit? I know I didn't.
Rev 2:4 "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left they first love."
I'm not saying the subject of love encompasses the whole issue of "falling away", but it must have something to do with it.

So a love for God, or a love for truth?
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Well, I think because we cannot see God that we can leave something we do see first - truth. We see truth when we read His Word, attend church, pray. So, I think we can leave that first.

I have seen someone who left "truth" God gave him over to a reprobate mind.
Now who knows what he believes!
Sad.
