War of the Roses

All-

There is a radio program here in the AZ that is also broadcast in Portland, OE; Colorado Springs, and Fort Collins, Co. Not sure if anyone has heard of this program. I listen almost everyone morning. It is JohnJay and Rich. They started in Tucson and then grew from there.

Not sure if anyone has heard them, but they do some interesting things. One of which is called 'War of the Roses'. The basis of this is that usually a women call in because they feel their spouse, signifigant other is cheating. The radio personalities call the guy and offer a free dozen red roses to send to anyone that he wants to. Well 9 times out of ten he sends them to the "other women." It is very rare that the "other women" calls in and tries to find that the guy is staying with the wife and stringing them along. Well today a lady called in and she is the other women. She is trying to findout if he is staying with the wife after he promised to leave her.

The reason I brought this up is I wanted to know how you all feel about that type of program. Without hearing them someone might have a preconceived notion about it, but often times it is done in a funny way. But at the end it is outing the cheaters. So what do you think?

While greatly entertaining, I think this sort of "gotchya!" program is serving the same function as those stupid photo vans which wait for you to hit that perfect "10 miles over" before getting you.

Sounds sick to me!! Why would anyone want to hang their dirty laundry where everyone could view it?

Re: War of the Roses

My opinion...

These are private matters between a husband and a wife. This is no better than Springer or similar programming. Nothing good can come from making private things public. Last year, I think, there was a show on Fox that aired right after American Idol that had people being asked probing, personal questions while hooked up to a polygraph - with his/her close family watching. I'm sure you can imagine that often the results were devastating. Peoples' lives were wrecked, but they had their 15 minutes of fame and the network made lots of money. Should the truth have come out? Sure. Should it have been done privately, though? Absolutely.

As Mother Alvear said recently, it's best to wash your dirty laundry at home. I would not listen to or watch such a show.

Re: War of the Roses

Well it is a radio show so it is not viewable. But truth is that it is a gotchya thing, but it is AMAZING how the dude stays on the phone the entire time.

**UPDATE**
The guy gave the roses to another girl, not the wife (now ex-wife), "other girl" (the one that called in), he sent them to a TOTALLY different chic. The guy was under the impression that he and the other girl (caller) were over. He is morally corrupt dude for sure, but it is hilarious that the girl-"other girl" got turned on her head. She was sure the roses would have at least gone to the wife, but it went to someone TOTALLY different. LOL

Re: War of the Roses

Also, at the end of every year they do a thing called "Christmas Wish" where they are one the radio almost all day and they give any things to needy families. It is certainly their redeeming quality. They are good guys at the root, but they want an entertaning show and they do certainly do that. But the Christmas Wish is the best thing I have ever heard on the radio. If you listen to it and don't cry you must be dead.

Re: War of the Roses

They had this program on in Houston last year for awhile. Made the mistake of calling an attorney who sent the roses to the other woman and he sued the radio station.

Very few sent them to their wives. And a lot of heartache was on the program that should have been private matters.

Re: War of the Roses

If they were on the radio in Houston that was cool. There is NO WAY the the lawsuit would have worked cause as long as they get verbal consent to be on the radio there is NOTHING they can do to sue. But anyone can try. I know that there are times that they don't even play the bit cause the people don't always give the ok for being on the radio. There are other players out there that copy this. Ryan Seacrest does it on his show too, but it started with JohnJay and Rich.

I don't think they were ever told they were on the radio. That was the deciding factor. They ended up taking that program off the station and both of the DJ's that were a part of it lost their jobs. They ended up at another station as they were both very popular.

Re: War of the Roses

It was not these guys cause they have been here in AZ for like 9 years. Someone might have ripped that off from them. JohnJay and Rich will not air it at all unless the person gives their ok. So it was not the same people.
