Yes it does.

Oh, another thing I've heard to enforce a strict dress standard is that we're supposed to be a "peculiar" people.

There's peculiar, and then there's peculiar.

LOL! That is the FIRST word the Lord impressed on me to look up when I was a new convert. I found out it meant - acquisition (the act or the thing); by extension preservation: - obtain (-ing), peculiar, purchased, possession, saving.

In an older Strong's Concordance it was also defined as -- chosen and sent.

I wanted to find out why he wanted us to be weird and was relieved that is NOT what it meant at all! LOL!

Sadly, there are folks who never bothered to seek out the nuance and meaning as you did. They make a lot of blustering noises and next thing you know their's some new standard that says you have to be weird.

LOL!

While I may be weird, I'm glad it's not God-mandated.

Dress truly has very little to do with being modest. How you carry yourself, the words you speak, the way you express yourself, and how you come across are all far, far more important. I also think it's obvious when a person fancies themselves too much.

Not sure that I will be able to agree with this, Nahkoe. The Bible does instruct us to dress modestly - it is a Bible mandate. But, I do agree the inward is just as important. More importantly - it is the starting point. The outward will express the inward.

And therein lies the problem as to what is modest. Seems everyone has a different measuring stick.
