No Ordinary Illness
I have been around a while (I'm 45) and have had my share of illnesses, head colds, pneumonia, the flu, etc.
It began a week ago Wednesday. My legs were killing me and I couldn't figure out why. I went to church and led worship anyway and then early Thursday morning around 3am I woke up with fever/chills and feeling as though I was hit by a MAC truck. In order to be out of work I had to take a COVID test which I did on Friday and it came back positive.
Now, I don't look for the devil behind every bush or tree but I'm going to tell you all that my experience with this illness hasn't just been physical. There has been a spiritual attack with it. It has been a long while since I've experienced demonic attacks as I have since last Thursday. Night terrors. My mind under constant attack with anxiety and depression. I was bombarded with thoughts that I wouldn't survive and my three children would be without a father. It would take everything in me to get off the recliner and walk around outside. Loss of taste has made it difficult to have much of an appetite for anything.
I spoke with a friend from Bible school and he experienced some of the same over a period of three weeks before finally breaking free of it.
I don't know what COVID is, I know it's not as simple as the flu, but whatever it is has come with a spiritual element.
Yesterday I believe was a breakthrough. My Pastor and 87 year old Bishop both called me and prayed over the phone. I believe God has answered our prayers. Last night I had my first peaceful night of sleep in almost a week, free from night terrors or anxiety.
