Greetings from the Banana Republic we call Canada!
We just had a Federal election on Oct 14 just 6 weeks ago & the results of the 308 seat Parliament are as follows.
The Green party got more exposure but no seats, the NDP (Commie socialist's)
got 37 seats (proof positive there are stupid Canadians around.
The Bloc Quebecois is a protest party that only runs seats in Quebec, it's sole purpose is to try to make Quebec a sovereign nation, baring that, they will stand for the best deal for Quebecor's.
They got 50 seats (stupid isn't just for English speaking people.
The Liberals the party of Pierre Trudeau (our worst Prime Minister) is a left of center party. They got 76 seats (there are more dumb Canadians then I thought)
The Conservatives are the party of one of our founding fathers & our first Prime Minister Sir John A MacDonald. They got 143 seats the most of any other party & earned the right to form the Government in Canada's upcoming Parliament with Steven Harper as the Prime Minister.
143 seats is the most of any one party but it isn't a majority. A majority of seats is 156 seats in Parliament.
The new Government just brought forth a Financial Statement in which they stated that the Budget which always comes out in Feb will be balanced with about a 100 million surplus.
They are taking a wait & see approach on if the economy needs stimulus & also to see what President Obama's Administration will do about the Auto industry.
Why throw money at the Big 3 if Obama will let them go into Bankruptcy.
He also said that we will belt tighten.
The Liberals introduced a bill that subsidizes the political parties by how many votes they get $1.95 a vote.
The NDP, LIBERALS, & BLOC, raised a fuss.
The Government backed down, but now because they have enough votes to bring down the Government, they plan to do so
Mostly the Government flows between the Conservatives & Liberals.
