Do You Know That I Know That You Love Me?
I attended the funeral of a JCM alumni friend yesterday and the pastor did an awesome job presenting the eulogy. He spoke slowly, deliberately and directly to the family like he was sitting in the living room with them. He spoke of her life, her ways, her influence, her legacy - very personable.
One thing struck a chord with me.
The minister said that he's now the age that his father was when he suddenly passed away. He respected his father, loved him deeply and when he was taken from his life so suddenly it caused him to wonder if his dad knew or realize how much he looked up to him and loved him.
He realized that he could pass away suddenly just like his dad and he didn't want his children struggling with the thoughts that they didn't tell him they loved him or that he might not know how much he means to them.
So, here's what he did and I challenge each of you to think about this and how it could/might apply to your lives.
He went to his children and said he wanted to talk to them. He asked them, "do you know that I know that you love me?"
Do those around you that might not always say or show you that they love you know that YOU know that they love you?
