And this guy is saying that your response is an easy way for many good Republicans to soothe their consciences at night. It helps them to forget that Oklahoma City and Tuscon were carried out by people who think and vote very similar to us-- listening to the same vitriol, but unable to keep themselves from acting on their violent impulses.
Sure the perpetrators have the lion share of responsibility for their own actions.
But to deny the influence of some of the loudest talking heads on the right on the lives of some of the angriest and unstable people who identify with them is to deny the truth.
So we deny the truth, while embracing a lie that has some truth to it.
It is what makes deception so deceiving.
