It all began before service, when an African American woman that I did not know, walked up to me and asked me if I would take her son to the rest room. I thought it strange that a woman woud ask me to do this as I just a kid myself (14). But, I believe God was in it so I would know without a doubt that all this was true. I consented and saw that her son, about 7 or 8 years old, was in leg braces all the way to to his hips. He walked on metal crutches and needed to be steadied as he, well, did his business. I helped him the best I could and led him back to his mother.
The service started and progressed and I never saw the woman or child again (large crowd)... until the service was over. As we began to file out, the evangelist called out.... "Hey, everybody, look what Jesus did!" Everyone turned back to the platform to see the preacher holding the boy in one arm and those heavy metal braces in the other hand. He sat the boy down and he started walking, then ruunning back and forth across the platform. I tell you, I thought church was going to start all over again as people began to rejoice and praise the Lord. Thats ONE miracle that I was priviledged to have personal knowledge of and know for a fact it was true.
I recieved the Holy Ghost in that meeting on Jan. 30, 1971. And the preachers name was R. W. Schambach. I saw the kid again a few months later. He was still walking and running without braces... or even crutches.

As a young girl when I used to visit my grandmother, I remember she would always listen to a Bro. Schambach on the radio at a certain time each day. It was back in the late 60's or early 70's. I had not thought of that name again until I read it just now. I wonder if it was the same preacher.

I'm sure it is. Bro, Schambach was an Associate of A. A. Allen in the 50's who launched his own ministry in 1958. His "Hour of Deliverance" was heard on radio staions all over the country in the 60's and 70's. He always closed his broadcast with the words, "This is Bro. Schambach reminding you, you don't have any trouble, all you need is faith in God!"
He'd still in the ministry though I'm sure he's in his 80's now. www.schambach.org

Re: Something I thought I would never see.........
I remember as a 12 or 13 year old kid taking my little transistor radio to bed with me, crawling under my covers with my pillow over my head and keeping my radio down as low as I possibly could, trying to see if I could tune in stations from as far away as possible. VERY often I would tune in to a station from somewhere in the south where someone named RW Schambach would teach from the Word of God. I always stayed tuned to that when I could find it. Learned soooooo much from him!

" Someone named RW Schambach..." LOL. I liked old Bro. Schambach. He made it a point once (more than 30 years ago) to call out the local UPC I attended at the time as being ... I forget, "a bad church?" I forget the exact term he used. Apparently we weren't Trinitarian or something.
He was in town and actually preaching from a tent and on the radio. Later, Oral Roberts came to town and set up the same tent in an AoG Church's parking lot.

Re: Something I thought I would never see.........
I never knew where RW Schambach stood on the God-head. That was before my days in the apostolic church, so to me that was never even an issue. I was just a 13-14 year old kid thrilled because #1: I could pull in a radio station from so far away with my little transistor radio and #2: I was so hungry for anything about the Lord that finding some good teaching that late at night was pure food for my soul

Well, yes and no. Bro Schambach (Robert W.), born in 1926, was licensed with the AOG in 51 and joined Bro. Allens minsitry in 1953.. He was Assembly of God until about 1955 (I think) when the AOG ousted A. A. Allen. While I won't go into detail as to why Bro. Allen was dismissed, there was an apparent attempt during that period by the AOG to "reign in" the tent preachers. There was a real competitive edge among them that led some to do and say things that were, well, pretty farfetched. And, some were making bold claims about healings, attendance, "signs and wonders", etc., that they could not or would not substanitate. Bro Jack Coe, Bro. Allens most fierce competitor, was dismissed from the AOG in 1953.
Bro. Schambach left Bro. Allen in 1959 on good terms and started his own evangelistic ministry. Bro. Schambachs wife recently passed away.
