A great group of guys for the most part but having been out of the church for 20 years it was a bit like getting hit in the face with a bucket of freezing water seeing the same culture again. Even the terminology and phrases were the same such as: authority, submission, permission, backslid, backsliding, uncut (you know what), pastor (usually used in combination with the first three words), holy ghost -always used with 'with evidence of other tongues', separation, holiness, oneness, trinitarian, and the list goes on. In fact the only time I ever heard the word Jesus was in reference to baptism. I never realized these UPC power words were so distinct to that particular culture until i was out of it for many years.

I've been attending the same UPC for nearly 25 years. I love it. I can't remember the last time I heard those words used except for Holy Spirit (biblical) and Holiness (also biblical) but not usually in the context of how we dress but our entire life. I hear the name Jesus all the time!
