I wouldn't ask a pastor on this forum for advice. I may want an opinion sometime but not advice. As far as the forum goes, I respect everyone on here and treat everyone as equal. I don't think the internet is a place to seek advice.
I grew up in a pastors home and I understand that some people expect more from a pastor. We are all human. We are looking for entertainment and fellowship. Fellowship is what this forum is about to me.
1. Is it good for pastors and saints to have the level of discussion and familiarity that is present on AFF?
2. Does it lead to an overall lack of respect for ministry in general?
3. Should the ministers who post on AFF move to ministers only forums?
1. First off, the pastors here are NOT my pastor. We are all equals here. The church of Rome invented this clergy class thing anyway.
2. Only when a minister/pastor posts something that is obviously hateful rude and just plain stoopid. That goes whether you are clergy or not. Stoopid knows no boundaries.
3. Ministers should post where they'd like to, but should not expect to be reveerd as some great thing just because you got some titlle at your home church.

I don't think "healthy distance" equals separate forums.
I do think that forums with anonymous members creates an equalizing effect that contributes to healthy discussions.
That balance is disrupted when someone tries to bring in some kind of leverage based on a position they hold outside the forum.

I agree with most of that.
A healthy distance may mean disaffiliating with AFF permanently though. I mean most discussions revolve around standards and politics in the UPC. Maybe its not wise for a licensed minister to ever even comment on those issues on a public forum?

I wouldn't be nearly as interested in those issues if the comments weren't balanced by both conservative and liberal POV's. I like to read the comments of both sides. I lose interest in conversations where everyone agrees.

True. The Bible Talk Cafe forum I administer is open to everyone, but we also have a men in ministry forum that is closed doors. Still even in a 'secure' forum you should think about what you are posting before it hits the keyboard.
