It's awesome that you are teaching your boys how to take a stand. We've had to do the same with a few members of our family. Usually it just takes once, but some people are either overly defensive, or they're just rebelliously persistent. *sigh*

This stuff used to surprise me, but not any more, unfortunately.
Sometimes I wonder if people like this can really enter heaven.
If they do, it'll be just another testament to the great mercies of our God.
Ironically , in many of the places where you see this, they are hardcore on "holiness". Obviously they define "holiness" as dress length, hair length, no TV, etc. ....But racial bias and crude racial humor among the "saints" is ok with them.
(sigh)
Since we've moved back to the Midwest, I have rarely encountered racism, at least not to this degree. Some minor prejudices...maybe. But I will agree that in the South there is a different, and even more dangerous dynamic, and for that reason many pastors--and parents--have the fairly legitimate intent to protect their saints and children from existing prejudice by refusing to support intermarriage.
Unfortunately, that tact just serves to put the problem into maintenance mode, it puts saints who are in interracial relationships into unnecessary discomfort, and it may exacerbate the problem by offering what seems to be a supportive point of view from leaders to racists. (Whether it is intended that way or not.)

Strangely enough elder I was just discussing that very same subject with a saint in my church last night but only with reference to backsliders instead of forum leavers.
I'm so thankful I was raised free of racial discrimination. Never heard it or saw it exampled in our home outside of a few comments once in a while about the French being ignorant. LOL! (I grew up, as a child, in a city that was about 50% French/English).
I just can't imagine someone being against racial discrimination but will discriminate against their own brothers and sisters in the Church for other reasons. Seems like that would be just a wee bit hypocritical.
