The thing you appear to miss is that the ability to rise up and speak and to have an impact on what is on the thoughts & minds of Americans outside the mainstream outlets is powerful, necessary and amazing.

When people are stating ones favorite subjects it is amazing and important.

When people are stating what one sees as senseless... it is NO less amazing and NO less important.

It amazes me how people are so apt to laugh at and ridicule people who pose a thought that they don't agree with.

When you see this priceless medium being used to put forth human thought... ALWAYS... be amazed at it's power and glad for it's presence.

I agree fully that it is great to have a nation where one can say almost anything freely. However, when one blindly backs something as far away from truth as birthers do, they shouldn't be surprised when a lot of people disagree. And when they continually do it, yes, it does turn to entertainment for the rest of us. They lose their credibility.

As are the global warming crowd to us for the same reasons.

Isn't it fortunate that in the long list of completely polar positions there are out there... each with an opposing group that blindly backs something so ludicrous as the opinion they hold... that we are right on all of them and they are wrong.

There is only one ilk of thought that I cannot tolerate. That is the notion that we should not tolerate people expressing opinions different from our own. We'd all still be Catholic living by that premise.

I must have missed the post where someone said we should not tolerate them. I don't recall anyone saying that, or even alluding to that.

True... but the basic premise still stands.

The point is that there are absolute polar positions out there on many things and both sides just stand there talking about how crazy the other side is for believing what they believe.

Sometimes the truth is in the middle.

But people take polarizing positions against one another's thoughts and the only thing that doesn't get discovered is real truth.
