In speaking to a pastor that left the org in 1977 ... he shared that he had discussed his shift in theology with his elders at the time, JT Pugh and J. Kilgore ... he felt that his understanding of grace might be divisive.

Pugh, it seems shared this view and asked him to stay but ... he felt it was better to leave than to argue it.

The pastor admittedly did not have knowledge of the PCI men in the org.
After my discusson with this pastor ... I am more convinced than ever that the Elder Kilgore is not only repentant about his role in 1992 but firmly sees that "God is doing a new thing" .... since then.

This may become more evident through the actions of his son.

Kinda sad. Bro. Kilgore is a good man and highly respected but he has that "blot" on him that by telling a lie he was instrumental in getting the AS passed and splitting the organization.

I'm sure he has repented and God has forgiven him but that's an example of how we some times cannot undo what's done or we cannot unring a bell.

I would rather believed he was misinformed ... rather than blatantly lying. I think some there might agree with this perspective.

Which is sad because his son will probably be labeled a "compromiser", as he will be seen as "changing courses from the old paths".

I perceive it as divine correction ...

Dan, I'm not judging the man. He has been highly respected for years. I was not there when the AS was voted in and I was not part of the UPC. It was my understanding that he would have known about how many of the Board were against the AS but when asked about it he "misrepresented" their positions and stated that they (the Board) were overwhelmingly in favor of it. I am not slandering my brother nor judging him. Maybe I have been misinformed and have been passing on a tale that is untrue but I hope not.

The anecdotal evidence shows he misrepresented the Board vote to the voting body ... what cannot be proven is the motive ... or lack thereof. Nonetheless, it had serious ramifications.

I think some of his actions after show that he realized the gravity of this action.

The big picture of Papa K ... is that he is A GREAT MAN OF GOD.

So, wouldn't the two have drifted apart even without an Affirmation Statement? It seems like they would have. Perhaps the AF helped it along but, today it seems it would have ended in a divide anyway, JMO.

How can God, who is so precise on plans and timing, have two plans of salvation?
The plans are only 2 because they outline when men stamp the approval that you are now saved. It is not according to when God stamps you are saved.

You can preach at each others churches as long as you respect that church and what views they hold,

It won't work if the men that hold these values design to shove it down the throats of those that hold a different value and that is what has happened. So it's not the message but the preachers that hold them

Amen. I don't think it's fair to accuse him of lying without all the facts
