Language School! To learn Cantonese! We had to make the trip from the New Territories into Kowloon 5 days a week. We dropped the kids off at a British Military School on the way up a mountain - the highest point in HK - and then we'd go on to language school and pick them back up on our way back from Kowloon in the afternoon.

Homework! Practicing reading and writing Chinese characters for hours a few evenings each week.

Chinese open air markets. There was one in Kowloon that we missionaries loved. We called it "missionary heaven" in Chinese.

Bro. Scism and Bro. Rodenbush's trips to HK. They came through frequently and they'd take all the missionary families, whoever was there at the time, out for supper.

My first trip to China! With our language school class as a field trip. It was like stepping back in time 100 years! I loved China! The people were so friendly and open at that time. And SO poor!! It was always a treat to get to go into "daaih luhk" (mainland).

The song is beautiful...can you imagine that many egos to work with at one time? It must have been one huge undertaking! Lovin' those 80's hairdos and clothes.

I don't think anything like that has ever been repeated. Not that I know of, anyway.
