The Obama's campaign team had requested the thesis to not be available until after Nov. 8 because they knew it would be viewed as controversial but someone already had a copy of it and gave it to politco to publish. The Obama's released the hold afterwards.

From the Politco article:
"Attempts to retrieve the document through Princeton proved unsuccessful, with school librarians having been pestered so much for access to the thesis that they have resorted to reading from a script when callers inquire about it. DITTO me on this post! This situation reminds me of how Ronald Reagan had the intestional fortitude to actually cause real debate on civil rights legislation. Before he did anybody who opposed any civil rights legislation, no matter how flawed or bad the bill was, was labeled as racist.

Now in 2008 anybody not drinking the Obama "Change" kool aid is labeled as racist. I don't give a rats rear about his color.

I care that a great orator is suckering in a lot of people with the promise of FREE health care, FREE education, FREE etc, etc when nothing in life is free.

I care that a yellow belly coward liberal wants to take the two tours in Iraq my son served in Fallujah and Ramadi and throw him risking his life away by pulling out of Iraq immediately when progress is finally being made in strengthening and stabilizing their new government.

I care that this left wing Senator has less experience than any Presidential canidate of a major party that I can remember.

I care that this left wing lib is excelling at the old Democrat tactic of class warfare. Trying to get the vote of the lower class by promising to stick it to the "wealthy" who in fact for the most part are the small business owners that are the engine of the American economy.

Interesting thread. I personally don't agree with a great number of her views, but I would also like to kind of put some of this into perspective. First, I would be much more interested in what she has written and said since college. I remember those days enough to know that it is a time of shifting opinions and "strong passion" about a number of things (usually something different...but somehow equally important...every semester). I can't even remember half of them these days. That being said though there is a disturbing trend with her in this area that may have carried on into her adult life.
Secondly, one thing that I have accepted as fact is that Black Americans and White Americans will never have quite the same view of American history. Even for those of us who are patriotic and love the country that we have become, there will usually be some fundamental emotional differences in how we view the history of our nation.

Obama has always advocated a more responsible withdrawal from Iraq than what you are giving him credit for. Clinton wanted ALL troops out in 3 months. Contrast Obama: 17 months for COMBAT troops, leaving "military trainers and advisors" in country to assist Iraq as needed.
