You're probably right. I have had people who used to tell us in the congregation that if you weren't running around the church you were dead, didn't have the Holy Ghost, etc. I'm not against running or shouting, but don't like to be told to.

I have more scripture for making a "loud noise" and defining the words for praise as exuberant and boisterous than I do being quiet. It's okay for our churches to be a place of excitement and party. You can have your funeral home.
Some just feel they need to be anointed to dance, shout, run, clap, sing... that's not Biblical.
