IF this discussion is about accountibility, so be it, but the references to a recent post being deleted by admin needs to be absent in this discussion.
In general, I'm addressing internet forum accountibility verses cover up with no accountibility.

Cover up doesn't help me. Accountibility helps me. Sometimes cover up follows accountibility but damages still need to be addressed. JMO.

There are many things people say that they later retract, since they know they were wrong in saying them in a spirit of anger. And they are acting rightly when they do take their words back. So in forums, this should still be allowed as well. I am not against deleting posts at all. All of us have said things that were said in a spirit of anger verbally, and we requested those to whom we spoke please forget we said them.

Courts of law have witnesses speak words that the judge requests the jury to strike from their records.

It seems to me that if a person has issues with male/female relationships, they shouldn't post on an internet forum. What ever happen to discipline. The administrators don't have time to babysit adults. jmho

While I agree, that's a small part of what this thread is about. What is related to in that post goes on in PMs, not in the public domain.

I'm not against deleting posts either...so long as one takes responsibility for the damages done before the post was deleted.

Perhaps if we didn't have such a soft comfy "delete" cushion, we would all be slower to speak and save everyone, self included, some headaches.

We cannot retract words said. You say we can, but it's impossible to do. Words hurt and they can even kill.

We can apologize for what we said, but to delete them and ask the people reading to forget about it, well, that just doesn't happen.

Even in a court of law, lawyers know that even though the words will get stricken from the record, once they are spoken and the jury hears, those words are still taken into consideration.

The record might not bear it, but their ears heard it all.....and that's what matters.

Words do hurt. But the fact remains that people should be given the chance to make it plain that they regret they spoke those words. And deletion does send that message but only ALONG WITH apology.
