I agree. I don't mind other viewpoints, because it helps me to make sure my opinions are biblically-based. I believe that my beliefs should be able to stand up to a challenge.

For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. 1 Cor 11:19

Re: Suggestion
I really don't know what good it does to complain about what a forum has become. A forum is made up of the people who are there. You can't force people to post. I guess if we want a more diverse (or more narrow) viewpoint represented, we need to canvass for new members??

Re: Suggestion
Maybe. But I've noticed the tendency to be quite intolerable towards conservative views here. A forum becomes what it's owners and administrators allow and propagate.

Or we can take our toys and join a forum more to our liking.
FyI, there has always been complaining about the state of this forum. Always!!! Either too liberal (miss you DA) or too conservative (conservative admins banning libs, miss you St Matt). It's been a roller coaster ride at times.

Some subjects defended on this forum:
All shades of Calvinism
Universalism
Faith Only
Silent Baptism
the One necessity of speaking in tongues
sprinkling as baptism
that's just for a start off the top of my head.
Do you go to an Apostolic church that baptizes by immersion in Jesus Name & does your church preach & practice recieving the HGB evidenced by sepaking in tongues?
|
ABSOLUTELY!!! You probably don't believe that, but it's true.

Yes, I go to an Apostolic church. We believe in baptisim by immersion in the Wonderful name of Jesus! Where Holy Ghost Baptisim evidenced by speaking in other tongues is preached and practiced!

I know at the WPF Youth Conference in Tulsa last year, the youth were instructed to stop talking about the formation of the WPF online, in forums, etc. It makes me wonder if the member ministers haven't been equally discouraged from online communications. (At least with those who might be liberal.)
I understand that the discussion can get tiresome if it's just going around in circles. I just don't understand the need to separate from someone just because they disagree with your views--IF that's the motivation.
Some days I don't like to have discussion, but on other days it helps me sharpen my own brain, and refine my own views, so I find it productive.

IMHO this has nothing to do with the WPF, and it certainly had nothing to do with a "WPF" commuique requesting that their ministers abstain from online communication. The request @ PEAK last year was simply to protect the young people from unecessary attacks and divisive issues.
The WPF has purposely not published their numbers etc, so as to not draw attention one way or the other. (I know it may shock some of you, but there has been NO "see how many we took from...." mentality) However, as evidenced here on AFF, there are many people who were/are misinformed, and who are very vocal about their feelings concerning the issue. So to keep the young people from having to deal with the whole "my group is better," "your group is wrong" etc they advised them not to discuss the WPF online.
As for AFF........it has definately changed in the couple of years since I came on board........IMO.......not a "good" change.
