The Lord has called you to "someday" be a pastor?

I've never heard of such a thing.

If you're called, you should be operating within that calling.

Why aren't you?

Tue. And in all honesty until that gets to #1 on his list the other 50 things don't mean a whole lot.

Paul took a long while to operate in the calling of an apostle. God called him from the get-go to preach to the Gentiles. It wasn't until he was at Antioch that the Holy Spirit sent him forth to fulfill that calling.

Maybe that is similar to what Neck is talking about.

Ed,

I have been true to myself. I would not take on the office or start a church, unless I could be 100% committed.

We just went through 15 years of extreme pressure, with our son's medical condition.

He was born with a terminal genetic condition, called Fanconi Anemia.

There are only a few thousand people in the world, that have this disease.

Without looking back at the years between 1993 and 2004.

From 2004 until the present time.

From the age of 14-almost 19.

My son's care and treatments (Non-Related Bone Marrow Transplant) in 2004 and then the next few years.

Generated 2.4 million dollars worth of medical bills.

So to start a church or take on a work, would have been an added stress to our situation.

He is turning 19 in April and will be attending, a Technical school in the Fall.

My wife is looking to start work, in the near future.

His care for the past 15 years has been hundreds of medical visits.

So it has been the situation of our family, that has kept me out of the starting gate.

Once again here is his website journal since July 2004.

http://www.caringbridge.org/wi/johna...tadt/index.htm

I do not expect others to understand our situation.

But I still fell the call and have told the Lord, "I will step out and do his will in his season."

My aim with this thread was not to slam any known past or current pastor, teacher or evangelist.

And no one on this forum.

I was asked by someone to write down, what I would do, if I were to become a pastor?

They wanted to see from my point of veiw and my thoughts.

Everywhere else except this forum.

Others gave me some varying advice, in a helpful tone.

Many came back to me and asked how strongly, I felt about certain line items and why?

Then they took my thoughts and thought about my reasons and thought process.

Not that they nor anyone on this forum, has to subscribe to my style.

I understand that many pastors, would have a track record of trial and error.

Also that each and every situation takes on a life of it's own.

Many current pastor's, might not be able to use their own current methods at another assembly.

In as much that my starting place, would change quickly, as the lay of the land is surveyed.

Thus the reason why I left #50, to change as needed.

I respect the office of the ministry from all directions.

I was looking for more sound advice, from those posting in this thread.

What I received in response, was a picking apart of each line item.

Not once did anyone aske me for my reason, or point of view, on why I listed each item?

I got the initial response of who are you? You have never pastored!

Then I listed my experience, as I did in the original post.

That my family is in the ministry, from every branch of my direct family.

So that was not good enough, since I had never pastored.

What would have been launched at me, if I were first generation and had no ministerial experience in my family?

Sometimes it is a good thing, to look at observations from those on the outside.

What is brought to bare is the fact, that some of my items were observations.

It would have been nice, to receive advice and not slams

I can't stand adding all the comma's.

Repsectfully,

Neck

I thought this thread was about what you would do and not a reflection on any pastor/preacher?
