Re: Going back to the UPC
We might even be attending a UPC church or two when we arrive in AZ but honestly can't see myself going to one full time. (My wife is NOT a jean-skirt sort of gal.)

Re: Going back to the UPC
Separation of the heart begins with separation of any kind. May I share something with you; I know someone who stayed in the UPC church that her husband left. Long story short, they are now divorced. For no other reason than stubbornness. She is stead fast in the truth and he has chosen to believe a lie. He was determined to prove he was right.
We should all be more careful about putting too my emphasis on the church. Regardless if it's UPC or not. If the truth is being preached then stand your ground. Our minds have become a playground for which the enemy has attacked our families & homes. We are human beings. Wherever we choose to attend church there will be something we don't agree with. Our salvation is not based upon the church rules. It's based upon what Jesus said we must do in order to be saved.
I applaud you for blacking the devils eye and staying with your family! Your children being young now, will reap what you sow. A family that prays together, will stay together! Blessin's to you and your precious family!

Any thought that if the church he was attending preached truth that the wife was not submitting by insisting on going to the UPC church?
I believe the church he was attending baptizes in Jesus name and believes in the baptism of the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues.
I have avoided this issue because I don't want this to be a discussion about this particular situation but it bothers me in general when wives are so loyal to a pastor or religous organization that they ignore the husbands role as the spiritual leader of the home and go their own way.
If I had prayerfully considered that what I was doing was right for my family and my wife refused then, in my belief, she would be wrong and in rebellion.

Perhaps I should have taken this a step further in explaining why he left the church in the first place ... the husband left the church for reasons relating to the pastor not listening to his opinions on the returning of Christ. He honestly believed he was chosen of God to know when Jesus is to return. The pastor of course would not entertain his speculations and therefore he left the church. I believe the wife was right in staying where she felt God wanted her. If he had been correct, Jesus' would have returned in May 2007. I apologize....
Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

He sounds like a nut. Hopefully when his personal prophecy did not come to pass he cooled his jets!

Re: Going back to the UPC
I think family should come before church in the context above...

Re: Going back to the UPC
There is UPC close by us that the folks run up and "shine the shoes" of the speaker when they are wanting to let them know they really are Amening them.
I fear for any minister who would let people worship him like this.
By shining the shoes, they kinda act like they are buffing his shoes.
Ridculous stupidity. Sorry...that's my opinion.
