I dont care how many Secret Service agents are on the scene, if you're a good marksman, and you're in the right location, you can do it. Remember Lee Harvey Oswald?
I think this kid might have been crazy enough and determined enough to do it.
I'm sure people would have thought the same thing about Oswald too, before he shot John F Kennedy. Or John Hinckley Jr, before he shot Reagan.
Although the picture may appear ominous at first glance; I think a closer look reveals someone crying for attention.
1. Having a gun in the south or west is NO BIG DEAL. The skinhead (not)! does not have a completely shaven head and is wearing make up. NO respectible skinhead would be caught dead with him!
2. Their confessions (which is the crux of the evidence against them for very serious crimes they admitted to planning) were totally unnecesary for them to admit to. Why would they BOTH tell the story?
3. I don't think either of the men you mention drew attention to themselves by putting swastikas on their car and planning a presidential assination that would take place after a crime wave that would have resulted in their death or a nationwide obssession with them.
These kids were bungling idiots who lacked real intent to do anything of real consequence but thought dressing up in white top hats might be cool. IMO

I agree that their ultimate plan had very little chance of success although they could have done considerable damage in a school. I am thankful that none of it came to fruition. I am sure that no matter what school they were planning to hit, there are plenty of praying parents who have been blessed and don't even know it.

1. True about those who go into their own schools and shoot it up. Don't know that I have ever seen or heard of someone who looks like they want attention going into a school that is not their own to harm the student body.
2. I really wouldn't have a clue about rather that particular gun is out of place in the south or not. If it is rare for gun owners in the south, then I would find them a bit more dangerous than I regard them now.
3. I too am thankful that nothing came of this. However, in reading about their activies to date I can't imagine them having gone forward. They take the cake for stupidity and their joint preposterous confessions in which they seal their fates are UNBELIEVABLE.

I am sorry for misunderstanding. I am excited that Americans finally have Obama's own words to judge his mindset by and are now able to put his other associations in perspective. (Since so many refused to judge him on the basis of the company he kept in and of itself- which had been enough for me).
