Wal Mart Employee Trampled To Death

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081128/...wal_mart_death

Wal-Mart worker dies after shoppers knock him down

AP – Nassau County Police examine the front of the Wal-Mart in Valley Stream, N.Y., Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, … NEW YORK – A Wal-Mart worker was killed Friday when "out-of-control" shoppers desperate for bargains broke down the doors at a 5 a.m. sale. Other workers were trampled as they tried to rescue the man, and customers shouted angrily and kept shopping when store officials said they were closing because of the death, police and witnesses said.

At least four other people, including a woman who was eight months pregnant, were taken to hospitals for observation or minor injuries, and the store in Valley Stream on Long Island closed for several hours before reopening.

Shoppers stepped over the man on the ground and streamed into the store. When told to leave, they complained that they had been in line since Thursday morning.

Is this not sad ?!?!?! I got sooo angry when I read this.

If I were manager of this Wal Mart I would kick everyone out and close it for the day.

They did close it down. I hope the pregnant lady is okay. It is sad and pitiful.

In the small town where I live folks start lining up as early as three 3 am,and when the doors open it sounds like a freight train.

I was going to go to Wal Mart this morning, but I changed my mind. I can only imagine what the crowds were like.

Re: Wal Mart Employee Trampled To Death

It is the madness and insanity witnessed every single year.

It affects most everyone to one degree or another.

Free at last... free at last. Thank God Almighty I am free at last.

My parents fought us kicking and screaming when we stop celebrating christmas. It took years before they finally calmed down over it.

My mom now says that seeing the madness every year.... you couldn't drag her kicking and back to being involved in all of that chaos.

Re: Wal Mart Employee Trampled To Death

http://www.nypost.com/seven/11282008...art_141313.htm

"Shoppers around the country line up early outside stores on the day after Thanksgiving in the annual bargain-hunting ritual known as Black Friday. It got that name because it has historically been the day when stores broke into profitability for the full year.

Many stores open early and stay open late. The Valley Stream Wal-Mart usually opens at 9 a.m.

Items on sale at the Wal-Mart store included a $798 Samsung 50-inch Plasma HDTV, a Bissel Compact Upright Vaccum for $28, a Samsung 10.2 megapixel digital camera for $69 and DVDs such as "The Incredible Hulk" for $9."
Wow. It's crazy to think that a man could be trampled to death over a big screen TV or a cheap digital camera.
These people ought to be ashamed of themselves.

Re: Wal Mart Employee Trampled To Death

I went into Walmart at 5:30 a.m. this morning [to get moving boxes] and it was packed and the customer service had 20+ carts of returns piled high where you couldn't even see the desk. That is pitiful. I think we should cancel Christmas or stay home and celebrate privately in our prayer closets.
