The Next General Superintendant of the UPC Will Be

I personally hope that Kenneth Haney is re-elected. I think he is a good man and that He loves God and wants to see the gospel message spread. I believe he will be re-elected. If he is not, there will just be more posturing and buzz of activity among the political bees of our organization..trying to get in good with the new man in charge, for position, authority, influence..whatever. I'm so sick of it all. Can't we just love God and love others?

I heard that last year at General Conference there were 48 fewer people than the previous year. See there.....it's dying!!!

Well, our local congregation grew by more than that last year so I guess we make up the difference there

I have no statistics or formal studies on the matter. I have just seen many bright and talented leaders leave the UPC.

Open up the 2008 World Almanac and you will see the UPC has been in a steady and rapid decline. The AOG over the same period has grown year over year. The AOG has 4 times the number churches. The UPC for the first time did not estimate their membership numbers.

(2008) AOG Churches 12,084 membership 2,627,029
(2008) UPC Churches 3,790 membership not provided.

The numbers speak for themselves.

I remember Marvin Hicks at the 1975 General Conference (I was 11 and it was in Ft Worth where we lived) getting a standing ovation, he said "At the growth rate of the UPC we will overtake the AOG by 1980". Then again Marvin Hicks is no longer UPCI for various reasons, but his prophetic statement is still not true 29 years later then his prediction for 1980.
