Re: Do You Know That I Know That You Love Me?
My anger issues are in the past, especially when I had 911 called on me in 2008 after I threw something across the living room. (Side note, my wife's pastor many years ago talked about how he got so angry at his little dog he threw it across the room and into a wall, I wonder if 911 was ever called on him? Hmmm...) Anyway, what a night that was. Had to sleep at my Ma's that night. The one daughter that doesn't talk to me (but still lives at home) basically bullied my other daughter (we exchange I love you's all the time) to the point that she moved out at 17 to live with a friend. It came to a boiling point one night. Drama drama drama, I hate it. This never happens between me at my son, only with the females in this crew. What a deal. Anyway, I went to counseling, on my own accord. Invited my wife to attend with me, and she refused. There are about a thousand other little details I could get into, but why bother? But feel free to ask away if interested in my small little life.

I think it's great you can say this and take ownership like you have. Apparently, your wife and daughters don't trust you quite yet. Keep at it though and don't lose your temper or you go back to square one.

Adam,
It all starts with one step. Just take a step.

Yes, I've experienced a very emotional weekend. I hope this can get everyone thinking -- life is too short to miss out on what we're suppose to do/be.

I know it's not exactly the same point that you're making, but it's along similar lines.....and I'm speaking of the song, "Living Years" by Mike and the Mechanics. I have a very difficult time with that song. "Cats In the Cradle" has driven me many times to play Mario Brothers, get in the floor and play cars, Legos, and Uno.
Life can look very different from the casket.

Re: Do You Know That I Know That You Love Me?
I'm the oldest of four children - my youngest sister died in an auto accident at the age of 19 - Horrendous loss for our family - we were devasted by her death - after 31 years the pain is still real for us all. We realized how precious our relationship with one another is and there is NOTHING that has happened to us since that time that has caused us to have cross words - disagreements, of course, but never hurtful words or actions. We've gone through the painful loss of our parents, and we still have the same love and closeness. I would urge anyone who needs reconciliation to first find a place of peace with God and then with your family. Life really is too short.
