Re: Good ol' Songs.
That is an old timer.
It was written by the late (and great) Bishop G.T. Haywood.
The YouTube version above left out a couple of verses.
The song is based on Genesis chapter 24 where Abraham (type of God the Father) sends his servant (Eleazar/helper a title found in John 14:16 and type of the Holy Spirit) into a far country to find a bride for his son Isaac (type of Jesus the Son of God). Bishop Haywood makes use of the fact that the prospective bride passed a "water test" which he sees as a type or picture of water baptism in Jesus' name. Also he uses Eleazar as a type of a minister who proposes marriage on behalf of his master. Other pictures found there are that the prospective bride was to be of his kin (not a stranger/sinner), was to be a virgin (pure as in 2 Corinthians 11:2), had to to accept the proposal without having seen the groom (having not seen, we love in 1 Peter 1:8), had to choose willingly, received gifts --nose ring, bracelets etc-- which, if we don't believe in jewelry we have to spiritualize.

Re: Good ol' Songs.
I love this song. Just heard it and I've falling in love with it. Bro Branham used to cite this scripture a lot...
Zechariah 14:7
But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.

I have noticed that the Branhamites like this song....maybe they think the "light" is the revelation of "Branham" being the return of John the Baptist, Elijah, The Seventh Angel, Buddy Holly, and Elvis...

Can't speak for those who are called branhamites, but for me, the light is I know "God and Christ are one and the same person" and I am "Baptized in Jesus' name" which by the way, is the point of the song.

Re: Good ol' Songs.
Bishop Johnson used to sing "baptized in Jesus' Name."
Bishop G.T. Haywood wrote it, "buried in His precious name."

Re: Good ol' Songs.
Do a Facebook search on POPS Preserve Our Pentecostal Songs. So many good songs have been posted there by many people. Unfortunately, I've only known of a few of the songs. But, I'm sure the ones I haven't heard are just as meaningful.
