So true. So much is done in just plain ole ignorance.

Do you have personal knowledge of this, or is this another Anti-UPC Urban Legend?
The UPC missionaries that we talked to did not tell them to divorce, but to keep supporting them.

He said he would and put her and the children up in a place to stay. But in the next worship service the man didn’t show up. Bobbie went to the place where he had put his second wife up to stay until the divorce and she was gone. Apparently her husband had come for her and their children. The man and his two wives and children were never heard from again. The man just couldn’t bring himself to divorce his second wife and leave her subject to such social shame.

Personally, I would have allowed them to continue coming to church as a family but disqualified him from pastoring.
1 Tim 3:2
2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
KJV

1 Tim 3:12
12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
KJV

Titus 1:6
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
KJV

That's exactly what these scriptures mean. There not dealing with marriage and divorce... but dealing with polgamy.

I'm concerned that heresy hunting may be turning into leukemia because some cultwatchers seem more intent on destroying parts of the body than healing the body....

Since we often make "exceptions" for the bolded portions of the texts that you quote above, why couldn't we also make an exception for polygamists?

"Concubinage" is usually thought to be covered by the seventh commandment.
