And the only reason why most of us continue to sing it is because of the humiliation it brings on the individual as we serenade them with this tune in public.
"Borders" on the worst? It IS the worst. I remember hearing it for the first time as a young lad who, at the time, was 101% behind the holiness policies and standards yet remember thinking "common! Isn't this taking separation to a ridicules level? Not even being able to sing the traditional birthday song??".

A Happy Birthday to you
A Happy Birthday to you
May you feel Jesus near
Every day of the year.....
that one?
I never did like that song.
Only times I've heard it was in Pentecostal churches.
First time I remember hearing it, the people clapped and patted their feet as they sang it.
I went to a Baptist church for a while in 1955 and they used to sing:
Happy Birthday to you
only one will not do
born again means salvation
how many have you?
Where I go to church now they just sing the old regular happy birthday song

I remember meeting Dottie and Buck Rambo when I was a kid. She did have a lot of hair stacked up. Love the Martin's and other Gaither groups/singers. I also liked the Speer's. My mom listened to The Chuck Wagon Gang and The Happy Goodman's.
I do not like country music, I can listen to some Blue Grass. Listened to Janis, Jimi, Stones when I was a teenager. Selah, Third Day, Casting Crowns, and Clint Brown, are some of my favorites now.

2 Chronicles 7:14 KJV
He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Micah 6:8 KJV
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. 1 John 3:2 KJV
Has anyone mentioned the song at the beginning of Harvestime?
Wow, haven't thought of that in years.
