I don't think so at all. If I was away from my husband, I would 'want to see him'. Wanting to see him wouldn't be because I was despondent and pitiful, it would be because I LOVE him and miss him.

Even the first lines of the song don't sound despondent...

"As I journey through the land, singing as I go...."

It's just a song about how we are looking forward to seeing Jesus face to face. Something every Christian should be looking towards.

One Day at a Time was a great song until Christy Lane decided to put it every album she hawked on television. She totally ruined it for me. When Kris Kristofferson sings it, you know he's lived it.

Yes, it gets more into 'life's tough sometimes', but not in a "woe is me" type way, imo.
