Obama announced the pick on his Web site with a photo of the two men and an appeal for donations. A text message went out shortly afterward that said, "Barack has chosen Senator Joe Biden to be our VP nominee."
... Obama's decision leaked to the media several hours before his aides planned to send a text message announcing the running mate, negating a promise that people who turned over their phone numbers would be the first to know who Obama had chosen. The campaign scrambled to send the text message after the leak, sending phones buzzing at the inconvenient time of just after 3 a.m. on the East coast.
All this hype about "sign up and get the news first by text message"... and yet they posted it on their website first. Doesn't make any sense. Sounds a bit incompetent to me, too.

I think we might see this commercial a lot in the next few months:
The new John McCain ad.... "Joe Biden on Barack Obama".

Joe Robinette Biden is a boring blowhard who talks endlessly. He is liable to bore people to death.
He does have a sob story abou the start of his career that will be a tear jerker in his bio film shown at the Dem convention. His wife and infant daughter died in a terrible car crash and his two sons were injured in it back when he was 29 years old and was first elected to the Senate. He had not even begun to serve yet when the accident happened.
He commuted from DC back to Deleware every night and raised his two boys himself after his wifes death.
I dread the next few months as I can't stand watching this guy. He thinks he is the smartest man in the world. In Senate hearings he makes me want to throw up.
That's why this year's tentative choices are so awful: Both McCain and Obama are senators. And what is a senator? A grandstanding blowhard. I guess senators get so much attention that it affects their self-perception of their political and leadership abilities - it's the only thing that can explain why so many of them run for president when so few senators have been elected president. Our presidents have mostly been governors and generals.
There isn't a grain of executive experience between the three of them. I would say that this would give McCain a leg up if a picks a governor for veep, but Kerry/Edwards got millions of votes in spite of their similar combined lack of executive experience.
Rush Limbaugh played a clip Thursday of a Biden campaign commercial from 1992, where the theme was a harsh critique of inexperience. Rush believes he's going to get a lot of mileage out of old Biden sound bites.
If America will elect two bumbling fools to lead us, America will get the leadership she deserves.

Biden's mouth has gotten him into trouble numerous times. And the man never met a microphone he didnt like. I fully expect him to make a few gaffes between now and November. It's just his habit.
In just the last primary alone, Biden's wild mouth managed to run him afoul of Indians, 7-Eleven clerks and African-Americans.
"You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin' Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I'm not joking," he said with a C-SPAN camera just inches from his unbridled mouth.
Just a few months after apologizing his way out of that one, he "complimented" Obama and at the same time revealed a comically cliched and antiquated take on race in America. "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," he enthused. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."
Priceless.

I hope Obama has a big bottle of aspirin because that advertisement is gonna accent the “PAIN” in his camPAIGN!
Quote:
FOX News:
In particular, the ad shows 2007 footage of an ABC debate with the Democratic presidential candidates in which Biden affirmed his belief that Obama is not ready to be president.
“You were asked, ‘Is he ready?’” the moderator, ABC’s George Stephanopoulous, says to Biden. “You said, ‘I think he can be ready but right now, I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training,’”
“I think that I stand by the statement,” Biden responds, with Obama standing to his right on the stage.
The ad also shows Biden on a 2005 segment on “The Daily Show” saying, “I would be honored to run with or against John McCain, because I think the country would be better off.”

When this leaked last night just as I was about to go to bed and FOX news and CNN had live programs about it I thought to myself that all of those people suckered into giving the Obama campaign their email address to be the first to know his VP pick ought to be furious.
If the idea was to let the "common people" know first why would you leak to the National media hours ahead of time and then belatedly send the email at 3 am in the morning?
If this guy can't keep a promise and organize the announcement of his VP what can people expect in the future?

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

We might not like these guys' political positions, but I don't think we need to refer to them as "bumbling fools".

I do think it's funny that these guys rip each other apart in the primaries only to have to come back, hug and make up and run together. The only problem is there ads and things they said don't go away.
For instance, I'm 90% sure that McCain is going to pick Mitt Romney in the next week and when he does, Obama's gang will fire away with gems like this.
Let the flip flopping and back tracking begin on both sides. There will be more flip flops in the next two or three weeks then all the burger joints combined.
