Ferd, just because somebody leaves the UPC and openly states their negative impressions of it doesn't make them a bad person, nor does it make their observations invalid. The UPC was born out of schisms, has birthed many of it's own schisms, and will continue to do so. It is the natural implication of its doctrine and it's culture from the beginning. Don't throw bombs at people that point it out. That's unfair and lack objectivity on your part. As Keyshawn Johnson says, "C'mon man!".

That being said, I think KH's legacy will be the shism's and the splits and general uproar that has attended his tenure in St. Louis. Beyond that I'll keep my other thoughts on KH to myself as they almost got me banned in my first week on the forum.
good for you. im glad you have opinions.

I have always been impressed by Rev. Haney. What I found to be the most impressive was that the more you were around him and found out about him, the more you respected him. Unfortunately, the opposite is true of too many people...even in church leadership.

I respect KH. He, like Bush, had hell break lose on his watch, but he has mettled the storm well. Is it true he shares Christmas holidays with NW? Now that would be interesting. History will speak more accurately of KH. I certainly cannot open my mouth to such a great man of God. Do I have my criticisms? Like Sarah Palin says "You Betcha", but I have much more praise for him.

Well, I have personally found it to be true in many walks of life. However, it is particularly unfortunate anytime you find it in the church.

Most often to keep myself in perspective and to keep myself off of my high horse, I try to bear in mind what they have accomplished in their lives vs. what I have yet to accomplish.

In my mind, television is his greatest legacy. He used the issue to eliminate most of the division that had existed in the movement for over thirty years. Voices of discontent and legalism left over the passage of the television advertising issue.

He is remaking the organization into a leaner, more inclusive fellowship. This would not have been possible without the exodus of the fanatical right wing.
