I just opened my utility bill (gas/water/electric combined) and it is $605!!! I nearly passed out. I know that gas has supposedly gone up, so this year we have kept both units set at 65 almost all the time. Has anyone else had a huge increase? I called JEA and they are going to come out and reread the meter, because she said it was a big jump in gas usage. I'm praying that they are just wrong. My highest bill ever was $453 last winter, and I nearly choked over it!
Just wondered if anyone else has had this kind of shock this year?????
Get rid of that gas guzzler and get a heat pump. My gas bill was 1700.00 last year, plus 80 a month for electricity. Installed a Fridgedare Heat Pump (13 seer, 3 Ton). Programmable T-Stat. Electric bill is about 140 a month. No gas bill to speak of (still have gas water heater and use small gas heater as back up) Mucho better. (I just happen to know a highly trained, professional installer, too!)

I only have one question. What in the world do yall do for a living to afford a 3000 or 4000 square ft house and why would ya need one that big? Lots of kids?

I work for a oil company... : ) And I'll bet I live in one of the cheaper homes on here. I turned a warehouse into a home... there's still 3000 sq ft of garage left over. We give $80000 for a 12,000 sq ft store for our church and it come with a 7,000 sq ft warehouse which we turned into a home. It's big, because we needed a place rather than a expensive motel to put visiting ministers in.
