Actually, your dissertation will have the same impact on liberals now as if you had successfully posted it.
I find that when the ID times out while I'm typing, and I hit the 'submit' or 'preview' button, if I tab down to the lower set of form fields to login, instead of the usual upper set, that my data is not lost.
Another thing I do, more on another forum than this one, is copy my text to the clipboard right before I submit. If the transaction fails, I can simply login, go back to the thread, click 'reply,' and then paste.
This is done by clicking once in the main post text field, hitting Ctrl-A, and then hitting Ctrl-C. (Command-A and Command-C on Mac)
Ctrl-V pastes the contents of the clipboard.
If you want to do other things between copying and pasting, it's best to open a text editor or word processor and paste the text there.
