What is a mystery is why the ACLU and atheists want to remove the term "Easter" from bunny. Don't they know that Easter is linked to paganism?

Have you noticed the sales ads in your area yet? Or is it just my area where Easter is quietly being done away with. Now advertizements speak of Spring breaks and Spring bunnies? Makes you wonder why our rush to disassociate from what our culture associates with Christ? Just ask anyone from the ACLU.

Haven't read the thread. Maybe this has been addressed already....

Good point, and one that was instrumental in changing my own views (at least somewhat) regarding Christmas trees. The ACLU doesn't like them either.

So now Apostolics take their cues from the ACLU? Come on Newman, get real! We are talking about hunting for colored eggs here. So what part of society associates egg hunts with Christ?

Hmm.... Little kids who come for the candy and end up hearing about Jesus.

What if the KKK or covenant witches group down the street had a holiday celebration that brought kids out to look for candy and then talked to them about some of their beliefs while the kids ate some of their candy? Is that discomforting? You betcha!

Don't you think that those that come to a church function might have some idea they are going to hear something religious? If my kid was going to a witch's 'eye of newt' hunt why wouldn't I expect them to hear witchy things?

Now on the other hand, if my kid was invited to come hunt devil eggs and they hid the fact they were a Druids it might make me angry and suspicious when I found out they were telling my kid about Stonehenge.

My point being that a fun holiday event is a great way to meet folks who need to hear about Jesus and haven't yet made it out to church.

Carlos Mencia brought up the same point. Here's his take on the origin of the Easter eggs:

Peter and John run to the tomb. They see no one is there. They look at each other... Peter says, "He is risen". John says, "Let's hide the eggs". Peter looks around and says:" Let's blame it on the rabbit". Thus the Easter Egg tradition was born.
