Re: What's Your Occupation?

I have been a nurse for 17 years, 6 as a LPN and 11 as an RN. I have an AAS in nursing and have been debating whether I want to return for my BSN or not. I also watch (along with my husband) two of our four grandchildren 2-5 days a week. Our daugther-in-law (the one we babysit for) is a beautician and is taking classes to become an RN. My husband started out as an orderly and has been an LPN for over 30 years.

Sorry for being so long winded.

Wonderful!!

I have been a LPN for three years and a RN for 6 months. I work in a hospital near where I live and love it, after doing LTC while I was a LPN.

I am taking time off from school but plan on starting the BSN program this fall, part-time. I have thought of doing travel nursing in a few years after I get the BSN finished. I've never really been anywhere, so this would be a great opportunity for me to see the world! LOL!

I guess some people really like doing the 3 or 4 month terms of travel but I have a friend that's doing a 2 or 2 1/2 year stint in Alaska and she can't wait to get out. She's in her 50's and she said the cold isn't sitting well with her health.

I'd only do 3-6 month stints. Places I'd like to see include Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix, SLC, Denver, Houston, and Billings.

You should hear me talk at work!!!

"So, Dr. Smith, should 333 bed 1 have a TTE before his cath and have the MRI tomorrow on his LLQ? And did you see his H&H results as to a possible GI bleed? His potassium is low so I'll need an order for a K rider also. O2 sats are 95. Respers are shallow. BP is still in the 80's. Let me know if you want me to infuse FFP when he returns."

My documentation is even worse! But I believe in CYB! If you don't document, it didn't happen!

Yeah. Sometimes I feel like a cop or FBI agent......LOL! I love talking in code!!

I understand enough of the first sentence to know that I do not want to be 333 bed 1.
