I'm having a hard time with this statement HeavenlyOne. It is the culture of our time for women to run around with hardly any close on. Does that make it right because it is our culture? I think the standards came about because some were no longer listening to the Holy Ghost.
I was watching a video of a Bible Methodist revival. (Barb mentioned them in another thread and I was interested in them). The preacher said that the people are loosing their feeling for the Holy Ghost. Meaning, when the Holy Ghost convicts them about a certain thing they don't listen. He gave the example of when you get dressed and the Holy Ghost tells you that what you just put on isn't right. With out that it does seem to become legalistic.
I said all that to say...I don't believe standards are a Heaven/Hell issue. But just because it is the culture/fad/style at the time doesn't mean we have to follow it all. Some of the c/f/s isn't bad, but much of it is something we shouldn't have in our life.
You are confusing fads with culture. Our culture doesn't have a standard of people wearing hardly any clothes, but just like any culture, there are fads that come and go.
The local Goth group is modestly dressed, but their style of clothing isn't what a Christian should wear, nor is their style of clothing considered to be cultural.

There they can find plenty of fault.
On the opposite sideof the coin you go into alot of Charismatic churches ,you can't tell if you are in a night-club or not.

scott please you couldn't hurt a dust mite.
PSR use to preach against hair ribbons and bows. I think even the UC churches have lightend up on that one BUT i do know of an AMF church where the Pastors daughter was spoted out of town wearing a Bow in her hair. the Next sunday, she had to get up and confess and apologize for wearing the hair bow.

So the Mae West nekkidness of 1925 was not cultural? some attribute the Great Depression to being the Judgement of God on such wickedness.
