This is not an apology. This is a deflection of blame.

It implies the one you're talking to is at fault for being offended at what you said or did. When you're to blame for saying/doing something that offended them... even if you didn't mean to.


No... the correct way to say it is...

"I'm sorry I offended you with what I said/did, or the way I said/did it"

Clear the air.
Your absolutely right and people that apologize that way are usually doing so because they are not humble enough to make a real apology or even feel remorse for hurting someone's feelings

Eating CROW is a fowl thing to do!


I have been known to apologize for offending someone and also say at the say time that I do not apologize for what I said. Is that wrong?

Me hearing that would sort of make the apology pointless as it sounds like you are more interested in covering your own rear end :-)

I would just say "Im really sorry that I offended you"
