are so many firsts that bring us joy!
First cry, first tooth, first step, first words, first day of school, graduation day,
wedding day, first child, and the process starts all over again. First grandchild,
etc.,etc.!! Oh, I love being a MOTHER and Grandmother! How I miss my MOTHER!

And that BOND that you have with your children.........priceless!
I miss my mother too.
Planning Tarah's wedding I catch myself wanting to call my mother to tell her an idea or get her input...........and she's not there. But, now I'm the mom and Tarah calls me with all her excitements and ideas, joys and sorrows.
Nope, nothing like being a mom!

Re: What Mother's Day Means To Me
This is a very bittersweet time for me in my experience as a mother. I have one child, my daughter who will be 21 in August. It has been just her and me against the world for over 10 years now.
It is a very confusing time for me, I am torn between being proud, being terrified, being happy and being sad.
It is a little disconcerting when you realize you have achieved you goal of raising a strong, smart, compassionate, loving and adventurous human being, and maybe that wasn't so smart when your own feelings come into play.
I have wrapped my world around my child for the last 10 years and tried to do my best to make her strong, and now, well, mission accomplished.
I want her to go out and change the world, but now that it is on the verge of happening, I am terrified. I am thinking, I have kind of shot myself in the foot, I have convinced her that she can do anything, and now she is getting ready to try. I don't want to hold her back or weigh her down, but it is a tremendous struggle inside of me.
Anyway, maybe that is over-sharing, but if you get a chance, maybe breath a word of prayer for me, that I will be a strong mother, whatever the future holds.

Re: What Mother's Day Means To Me
Dizz -
It's just the next season in both of your lives. You have done an excellent job of raising a strong, self-sufficient daughter in hopes that she will not have to hurt the way you have (I know this because it's what I did).
Be happy. Be proud. Know that you will ALWAYS be her mom and she will ALWAYS need you...... the needs just change.
The season now for you is about YOU. You'll have to make it about you, but you can do it! It is a scary time, but there is some freedom that will come from this too - not just for her, but for you.
You have so much to be thankful for!

Sis. Dizzyde,
Most everything starts with a desire and you basically expressed a
desire that you would be a strong mother, whatever the future holds.
I believe God sees your heart's desire, so dear Sister, Just delight thy-
self in the Lord and He shall give you the desire of your heart! In Jesus
Name!
Blessings,
Falla39
