Re: US Airways Jet crashed into the Hudson
I spent 8 years in the USAF as a jet engine mechanic. Rebuilding an engine after it ingested a goose or a seagull was not a pretty task! Been there, done that. It can be rather "graphic"! I've also spent many years in the commercial aviation industry and in addition to pastoring, I currently work as an aviation safety inspector. I tell folks all the time that the most dangerous part of my day is driving to the airport and flying is the safest part of any trip. This "accident" is textbook material. This is what we in aviation prepare for and train for. The pilot and crew on this flight are considered heros today, and rightly so. However, they were well prepared for what happened and that should be a lesson to all of us.
