Well said and welcome, Bro. Perry. This kind of teaching is vital and I fear lacking in many churches. I did a series around Valentine's Day called "Turning the Fizzle into Sizzle!" It was HOT and probably rated PG. Everything was done and said appropriately and I had SO many comments from folks who stated they never heard this in church before and felt that it was so needed.

Thank you!!!

Richard haven't you ever read the story of how the Rhino got his skin???
Its a good tale to be sure.Rhino powder doesn't work.If it did we'd all
buy it and have the market cornered.

A year and a half ago we went my wifes old church for the last time. She grew up in it, but a new pastor came to town just a few months earlier. He had just given a marriage seminar and we caught the last one, plus the study guide for the whole thing.
He was not only wrong, he was dangerously so. He is currently a loose canon ruining a bunch of sheep (most of which truly act like it since we were one of 2 or 3 couples to leave).
He teaches that not only is birth control a big no no of ANY kind (a feeling that some here share) but he also teaches that we are to have the largest families possible! "Oh, remember the days when 9-15 kids was considered normal!" he said.
But it goes even further. He taught that the Levitical "cleansing" period must still be upheld. This is the teaching that there is not only supposed to be no sex during a womans period but for a whole week after! Also, no sex on Sunday because THAT day is the Lords day.... and no sex on Saturday night because it is the day BEFORE the Lords day.
He taught that downs syndrome babies were a result of sin from the mother or father in not obeying the previous commandments.
He taught that MEN must abstain from sex as well because it helps their creativity.....
Unfortunately there were enough people who have fallen for it hook line and sinker. Not all at once mind you, but over the following 12 months..... There is one couple who were JUST married and wanted to wait at least a few years for their first kid, but are already half way through their 2nd -only 14 months later. It's gotten to the point where HE doesn't want to have sex anymore simply because he doesn't want any MORE kids but she now thinks that is the only reason that God created the act.....

And to think this man is doing premarital counseling for couples!

To The starter of this thread...

Excellent post. Thank you!

I believe that intimacy within the marriage is very vital to the existence of the marriage.

We are to become one.

Each partner needs to know that they are equally loved and each partner needs the show of physical affection.

Physical affection helps each one in the marriage with self esteem to knowing they are needed, important and loved.

Affection in a marriage cuts down on stress, communication problems and much more.

A smile and a kind word can do wonders, but there are times when I just want to be held by my husband of 20 years and know that he loves me and cares for me. Within his arms, I feel safe, secure & loved. I like that feeling.

I thank God for a Holy Ghost filled husband. Who preaches this precious truth.

To God be all the glory for 20 years of marriage. It's amazing how we are still growing in the Lord and growing in our marriage!

Blessings to you all....

Sister Bridges
